Our client, a large County Council, were already using Power Platform technology to enhance several of their services and processes. They have been successful in improving the services they provide to their community while further developing their highly skilled teams. Alongside the Power Platform strategy, they were also looking to implement a Centre of Excellence (CoE) to help govern their approach, drive innovation, and ensure future success.
Marra has a specialist CoE model, specifically designed to support local government in expanding their Power Platform capability.
The client engaged with Marra to explore a CoE via a maturity assessment. The main objective was to establish a clear mission for Power Platform use across the organisation. The assessment focused on ensuring consistency and standards through guidelines and reducing dependency on single teams or individuals. The Marra CoE facilitates the creation of unified and well-developed processes and methodologies. They foster innovation while ensuring appropriate levels of governance. Key priorities include efficiently reducing backlog, empowering individuals, and ensuring robust monitoring and security controls of Power Platform assets.
During the assessment, Marra consultants collaborated with the client’s stakeholders and facilitated the full Maturity Assessment. This helped to ascertain where they were on their Power Platform journey, where they aspired to be, and supported the identification of the most appropriate route to get there.
During the assessment process, our collaboration increased the client’s maturity scoring by more than 15%
By working with Marra, they now have greater clarity of their Power Platform adoption. Independent facilitation resulted in thought provoking discussions on the current use of Power Platform within the organisation. As a result of the Maturity Assessment, a group of empowered CoE champions have been identified. They will lead and support the progression of the CoE and drive its evolution forward.
The CoE Maturity Assessment output provided:
- key recommendations, including assessment results,
- maturity level score,
- accompanying graphs,
- metrics and guidance around next steps to give the Council a clear pathway forward.
